Hyperterm Setup for Unproto Net
LCARES Packet Frequency 145.010 (Effective 2/1/2009)
Effective 3/1/2009, the Packet Net will be an Unproto (not-connected) net
At the cmd prompt, enter the following commands:
mon on (this turns on the monitor function to allow you to see packets being sent by others)
unproto ARES via K4FC (this will cause your unptoto/unconnected packets to be sent to "ARES" and digipeated by K4FC, allowing station that cannot "hear" you directly to receive your packets via the K4FC digipeater)
conv (this puts your TNC into converse mode; whatever you type is transmitted when you press enter; note: some TNC's use k in addition to or in place of conv)
To get out of converse mode and return to command mode, press ctrl-c
Notes:
Most TNC's will respond with the previous setting of a command when you change its setting. For example, "unproto ARES via K4FC" will typically be responded to with something to the effect "unproto ARES via K4FC was CQ". Just entering the command itself (mon, unproto, etc.) will typicaly return its present state.
